Muddy Hell! (All in the name of charity)

In conditions you’d expect to find in November, Rock CC hosted a Rock/Rennington Village XI.

20 overs a side it was to be, with some obscure rules designed to deliberately hamper the Rock CC XI. The visitors amassed an impressive 97 from their 20 overs surprisingly only losing 12 wickets (yes we went around again).

In reply, Rock CC lost wickets aplenty as they struggled to bat with their wrong hand, only Chris Dunn managing to dominate early on. Batting so well, we wondered if he should change to a right hander permanently! In the end, Donks and captain for the day, Tony, knocked off the winning runs in around the 15th over. By the end most Rock batters had been in and out twice and the Villagers had acquired extra fielders, I counted 17!

The final over was bowled by former Rock legend “Kapil Nev”, who claimed the wicket of son Chris with the last ball of the day.

A very enjoyable day was had by all and more importantly more cash was raised for the very worthy causes that are Help For Heroes and The Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Plans are already in the offing for next years game!
