Rain Rain Go Away

Yet another game lost to the weather as a persistent drizzle, which increased to whole rain once the pitch was readied, ended hopes of seeing any cricket played at Rock on Saturday.

Of course by 3pm the sun was out and a nice breeze blew through the Northumbrian Countryside. We weren’t the only game called off, only Warkworth (with their fancy covers) managed to play, albeit after a delayed start.

Whilst waiting for the drizzle to stop the groundstaff and captain investigated the approximate location of a 30 yard fielding circle on the Rock pitch, in preparation of the possible 20/20 competition mooted for next season. Our findings? Well in a surprise to many the 30 yard circle fits within our boundary …JUST! Roughly 6 yards to play with to the straight boundary on the north end of the ground. Maybe we should look at a 20 or 25 yard circle?!
